Pegasus Watercolour Constellation A5 Painting + History Note | Greek Myth of Medusa & Bellerophon

£25.00

Pegasus, the white, winged horse, is one of the most graceful and enduring figures in Greek mythology. He was said to have sprung from the neck of Medusa when she was slain by the hero Perseus.

Before her transformation, Medusa was a beautiful and gentle young woman, devoted to the goddess Athena. But when she was violated by Poseidon in a sacred temple, she was punished instead of protected. Athena turned against her, betraying innocence with unimaginable cruelty. Medusa’s hair became snakes, her face a curse, and her story reduced to that of a monster. Her fate remains one of the greatest injustices in all mythology.

From that injustice, Pegasus was born — not as a symbol of vengeance, but of transcendence. Later, he aided the hero Bellerophon in his quest to defeat the Chimera, a fire-breathing creature of terror. With courage and grace, they triumphed, and Pegasus was eventually placed among the stars, forever free from the cruelty of the world below.

This A5 watercolour comes with its own carefully researched History Note detailing the story behind the constellation. As Pegasus is closely associated with classic Greek tales, it would make the perfect gift for a mythology lover.
