Scorpio: The Meaning Behind the Constellation

To celebrate the beginning of Scorpio season, we’re going to explore all there is to know about the star sign’s constellation. Scorpius is a large constellation made up of many bright stars which form the shape of a scorpion.

The myth
In Greek mythology, the powerful hunter, Orion bragged to all who would listen that he could hunt every animal on Earth if he wanted to. Hearing this, the Earth goddess, Gaia sent a scorpion to kill Orion as punishment for his boastfulness. During a deadly showdown, Orion was stung to death by its poisonous tail.
Afterwards, Zeus made the scorpion into a constellation as an eternal warning of what happens when we let our arrogance get the better of us.
